Nigel

  • (Alex Glasgow)

    Nigel -
Get your finger out your nose
Get your elbows off the table
I wish you'd learn to brush your clothes
    Hurry up, your daddy's waiting

    Nigel -
    Drink your milk up nicely
Sit up straight and stop that yawning
    Nigel -
    Leave that spoon alone
Must I tell you every morning

    Nigel -
    Sometimes I despair
Is that the way to treat your brother
    Stop wriggling in your chair
Why don't you listen to your mother

Off you go now, brush your teeth
You've dirtied that clean shirt already
Don't you talk to me like that
Or I'll go and tell your daddy

For Heaven's sake, child, hurry up
Of course you don't need rubber boots
    It's sandals you'll need today
Good gracious, child, you'll have me grey

Button up now, blow your nose
    You're a most untidy child
    Behave yourself in school today
    And, Nigel -
Why do you never, ever smile?

    (as sung by Iain MacKintosh)

Susannes Folksong-Notizen

  • [1988:] When I was a child I was always late for school. My mother was always angry at breakfast time, it was the least peaceful time of my day. I used to sing this as a children's song until I realised it isn't a children's song - it's a mothers' song. (Intro Iain MacKintosh)
